What we stand for
Our mission
All of us at Progressive Rugby love rugby union and the core physicality of the game.
Progressive Rugby was founded in February 2021 following our Open Letter to Sir Bill Beaumont of World Rugby (below) to ensure player safety remains at the heart of rugby union.
Our aim is simple - we are lobbying for better awareness of head and brain injuries which can be caused by contact sport, and improved protection and care of rugby union players with regards these types of injury.
We are a non-profit player welfare lobby group demanding better protection of rugby union players to ensure the long-term future of this great game.
We are comprised of current and former players (amateur and professional), medics, academics, referees, coaches, journalists, teachers, administrators and fans.
We all love rugby union and are supporters of the core physicality of the game.
We believe the game can do more to protect players at all levels from brain trauma and broken bodies.
We are independent and are determined to identify solutions to ensure the long-term survival of the game.
